After Burn
One careless sip. That’s all it took. A whole day ruined by a burnt tongue. A whole day wasted. What’s worse, you’re on holiday, with a slew of gustatory pleasures planned out before you.

Your first impulse—and who could blame you?—is to apply to your recent wound something very very cold indeed. An ice cube suggests itself. But wait: do not let haste speed your distress. A large cube will only increase the burning sensation.
Do
Ice cream, on the other hand, is very much the ticket—and let’s be honest: any excuse will do.

Likewise, water at room temperature or slightly cooler proves a winsome remedy.

Anything cool and with a creamy texture—say milk or matcha—will be to your wound a velveteen salve.

According to a friend of ours who seems trustworthy in certain lights, raspberry extracts are used in various mouth sprays and can help to soothe mouth ulcers, so why not this fresh lesion? Be careful, though, with the fresh, whole kind: their acidity can cause further irritation to the mucous membrane.

And, if you’re anything like us and do not need to be told even once to souse your trap in coffee, make it an iced one this time. Your poorly palate will thank you!
